NOAH'S ARK

Seeing the wickedness of humanity, God decided to cleanse the earth with a great flood but chose Noah, a righteous man, to build an ark and preserve life. God required the ark to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high, ensuring it was large enough to carry Noah’s family and the animals. Following God’s instructions, Noah built the massive ark and brought aboard his family, along with pairs of every kind of animal. The floodwaters covered the earth for 40 days and 40 nights, wiping out all life except those on the ark. After months of waiting, the waters receded, and Noah sent out a dove, which eventually returned with an olive leaf, signaling dry land. When the ark finally rested on Mount Ararat, God made a covenant with Noah, symbolized by a rainbow, promising never to destroy the earth by flood again.

GODS COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM

God promises to make Abraham and his descendants into a great nation (The Israelites).

Sodom and Gomorrah: God decided to destroy these cities due to their extreme wickedness. Abraham pleaded for their salvation, but not even ten righteous people could be found. Two angels visited Lot, Abraham’s nephew, warning him to flee with his family. As they escaped, fire and brimstone rained down, destroying the cities. Lot’s wife, disobeying the angels’ command not to look back, was turned into a pillar of salt.

EXODUS

At the time when the Book of Exodus starts, the 12 tribes of Israel are established by lineage but not yet fully organized as a nation. The story begins with the birth of Moses. Moses parents are Amram and Jochebed from the line of the LEVI tribe. His brother and sister are Aaron and Miriam. Exodus tells the story of Moses leading the Israelites to freedom. It concludes with the Israelites preparing for the journey to the Promised Land.

BIRTH OF MOSES

Moses was born at a time when Pharaoh had ordered all Hebrew baby boys to be killed. To save him, his mother Jochebed placed him in a basket and set it afloat on the Nile River, where he was discovered and adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter.

BURNING BUSH

While tending his father-in-law’s sheep near Mount Horeb, Moses saw a bush that was on fire but was not being consumed. As he approached, God spoke to him from the bush. God revealed Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and told Moses that He had seen the suffering of the Israelites in Egypt. He instructed Moses to go to Pharaoh and demand their freedom. When Moses expressed doubt, God assured him of His presence and gave him signs to perform, including turning his staff into a serpent.
